Community Foundation of Howard County names Scot Millen board chair

The Community Foundation of Howard County, which raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, named Scot Millen chair of the foundation’s board of directors. Millen is the director of investments for Columbia-based Brightworks Wealth Management, which he co-founded in 2010.

Millen has over a decade of experience in financial services, investments and banking. Previously, Millen was director of client services for Baltimore-Washington Financial Advisors and vice president for M&T Bank. He also has international business experience. Millen was a co-director at CMC Graduate School of Business in the Czech Republic and managed an office for Cooperative Business International in Prague.

He serves on the board of directors for the alumni association of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Management. In addition, he has been quoted in The New York Times,, Washington Post, Washington Examiner and Investment News.

Millen graduated from Leadership Howard County Premier in 2011. He earned an MBA in finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ohio University.

Joining Millen on the Community Foundation’s board of directors are Marc Levin, chief financial officer and treasurer for Maryland University of Integrative Health; Jennifer McManus, attorney with Davis, Agnor, Rapaport and Skalny; and Edward Rothstein, president of ERA Advisory.
